We are currently looking for a talented Plater / Fabricator to join a highly respected and expanding engineering business that specialises in fabricating large-scale structural steelwork. This is a brilliant opening for skilled tradespeople seeking long-term employment stability, excellent
rates of pay, and plenty of available overtime.
You will be based in a fast-paced, safety-first workshop where attention to detail and high standards are paramount. The chosen candidate will handle the fabrication and assembly of heavy steel assemblies, working directly from technical engineering drawings and blueprints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate and assemble heavy structural steel projects to exact tolerances
  • Read, interpret, and work accurately from complex engineering drawings
  • Safely operate manual tools, burning gear, and standard fabrication machinery
  • Carry out precise marking out, cutting, bending, and rolling of steel sections
  • Manage overhead cranes and heavy lifting gear safely across the shop floor
  • Coordinate closely with welders and fellow fabricators to complete builds
  • Keep your work area tidy and follow all workshop health & safety rules

Experience & Requirements:

  • Solid background as a Plater, Fabricator, or similar within heavy engineering or structural steel
  • First-class ability to read and follow technical engineering drawings without hand-holding
  • Practical experience handling large fabrications and heavy-gauge steel
  • Proficient with various metal cutting, grinding, and forming machinery
  • Thorough understanding of workshop health, safety, and risk practices
  • Capability to work to tight manufacturing specs with minimal supervision
  • Experience using overhead gantry cranes (A valid crane operator ticket is highly desirable)
  • NVQ Level 3 in Fabrication & Welding or a matching time-served qualification (preferred)
  • Flexibility to work both day and night shift rotations as required
